MAÎTRES STORIES

HIDDEN GEMS

Everyone has their favoUrite places, but sometimes it can be fun to try something new! Here we suggest some hidden gems in Stockholm and Gothenburg that you may not be aware of.

ZINNIA

Another small Södermalm gem is Zinnia – with an emphasis on small, as the restaurant only has about 20 seats or so. But if you’re looking for a really cozy bar hangout and festive after works, this is the place to go! Located in the middle of Götgatsbacken, they have quite the amount of different cocktails, cava, beer and Asian-Fusian inspired dishes.

Bao with Beijing duck, steamed scallops and crispy duck with Char Siu barbeque sauce are some of the more popular dishes. In addition, you can sip on really good cocktails here! Open Wednesday to Saturday from 4pm to late.

TAVERNA AVERNA

Bistro, bar, art and culture – Taverna Averna on Tredje Långgatan has it all! This Italian bistro in Linnéstaden serves classic Italian dishes with a modern twist.

Burrata, carpaccio, ridiculously good pizzas and a large selection of organic wines - it’s a perfect dinner in all it’s simplicity! Take in the warm atmosphere and admire the art of local artists which adorn the walls. On Sundays there is also a special menu for those who are hungry for a Sunday dinner.

BLECK

If you’ve hung out a bit on Södermalm, you may have passed Bleck and their dreamy outdoor area by Lilla Blecktornsparken. But what you may not know is that they have now also opened up for lunch service every weekday! Now you can enjoy nice sunny lunches and try dishes like “Hellaskorv” - sausage with roasted garlic mayo, baked cod loin with potatoes and green asparagus, or a fresh burrata salad with grilled peppers.

If you come here during the weekend, you can enjoy both a sunny brunch or a long dinner.

CAFÉ FACILE

The smallest Franch bistro in Vasastan? Perhaps. But despite the crowded space between the tables at Café Facile, it’s difficult not to be drawn into the pleasant and familiar French atmosphere.

The menu is presented on the blackboard every day, and you order what you want at the till before you settle down at your table. Steak frites with béarnaise sauce is among the more popular dishes, but you will also find French classics such as boeuf bourguignon, snails à la provençale and steak tartare on the menu.

BODEGA

At Bodega in Gothenburg you will always find affordable cava and nice Spanish beer. Order a bunch of different tapas dishes and a pitcher of sangria, and you’re set for the evening! If you don’t want to have dinner, Bodega is perfect for a relaxed after work hangout! Come here for aperitivo and order cheese, charcuterie, pickles, Marcona almonds and pan con tomato to go along with your cava.
