MAÎTRES STORIES

WINTER HOLIDAY GUIDE: ÅRE & STOCKHOLM

THE WINTER holiday season is in full swing! Regardless of whether you are going to Åre and skiing, or staying in THE CITY, we have GREAT tips on restaurants to visit. Why waste unnecessary time on payment and waiting for the bill when you can use Maîtres AND ENJOY YOUR TIME IN THE SLOPES INSTEAD?

TIMMERSTUGAN

📍ÅRE

Our latest addition in Åre is Timmerstugan, which is strategically located at VM6's valley station and just a short walk from the village. Come in for a warming coffee, a glass at the bar or a long lunch in the middle of the hill.

The menu includes Swedish and French classics, and some Italian dishes. Potato pancakes (raggmunk) with raw lingonberries and fried pork, veal schnitzel with french fries and anchovies butter, and of course cheese fondue are a given!

And of course, you can come here and party on the after-ski on the terrace! Pay with Maîtres and don’t waste any valuable time better spent in the slopes.

BOQUERIA

📍ÅRE

Boqueria Åre (which also has successful spots in Stockholm and Gothenburg), offers a guaranteed good vibe, and Spanish tapas and pintxos!

The menu is lively and creative, and is constantly updated with new additions. The focus is on quality ingredients and rich flavors from Spanish cuisine.

The combination of wintery slopes outside – and a warm, lively atmosphere reminiscent of the back streets of Barcelona indoors, is the perfect combination for your Åre nights!

Order some pitchers of sangria (with red, white, rosé wine or cava), and share a bunch of tasty tapas! There are plenty of choices for both the meat or seafood lover, and for the vegetarian as well!

Boqueria Åre is located on Årevägen 77, a quick walk from hotel Åregården.

With Maîtres, your visit will be even smoother and no time wasted on waiting for the bill or payment!

BYDALENS WÄRDSHUS

📍ÅRE

In the middle of Bydalsfjällen, you will find Bydalens Wärdshus. Here, you live in modern apartments, eat well in Wärdshuset and are close to ski slopes and nature. Come warm yourself up with a good cup of coffee, or eat a delicious lunch made with local ingredients.

On the after-ski, you can party with hot shots and fun cocktails like "Neighbour Feud" or "Our Wife". Order some of the inn's pinsas – for example with salsiccia, n’duja or venison!

And in the evening you can eat reindeer fillet, mountain trout or the inn's saffron fish stew.

Book a table directly in the app and pay with Maîtres as usual!

VASSA EGGEN

Argentinian winds sweep over Vassa Eggen when they invite you to Asado during the winter break!

Grilled is the main focus of the menu and according to true Asado tradition, the food will be cooked over open flames on a charcoal grill. The dishes are served "Family Style" and are intended to be shared. Stuffed mini squids, empanadas, grilled provoleta, and veal brisket on skewers – or Flat Iron Steak, Argentine prawns and tamales straight from the grill are just some of the delicious dishes to try!

For the wine lover, eight new Argentine wines make their entry on the list – including Malbec, Bonarda and Torrontes. And the much loved Fernet con Coca makes its' debut on the cocktail menu.

House and disco music with a South American touch will be played all night long, so expect a lively party.

TAKO

Asian restaurant Tako invites you to a spring festival in true Chinese spirit! A special menu will be available starting March 1st, and the festival ends with a beautiful lantern festival on Saturday, March 5th.

The menu includes House Beijing Duck with steam buns, hoisin sauce and pickled plums, Biang Biang Hot Noodles with cumin lamb, and steamed shrimp dumplings.

It will be a wonderful mix of smaller and larger dishes. As usual at Tako, the food is often shared with family and friends, so order different dishes and share! The cocktail menu also includes two new additions – try a Bo Luo, for example, with Baijiu, peach, pineapple and lime.

KOMMENDÖREN

Southern Comfort is the theme at Kommendören March 1-5! This is all about comfort food, and all that the food culture of the American South can offer.

Powerful and uplifting flavors, with simple ingredients and influences from Cajun and Creole cuisine is the main focus. Order several dishes and share – eg Frog Legs "Louisiana", Shrimp & Grits with Creole spices or Louisiana crawfish boil. Finish with sweet beignets – golden brown donuts from Louisiana!

There will also be a whole range of new drinks based on New Orleans liqueur Sothern Comfort. Southerners Tea Party, Silly Katy and Old Quarter Punch are some that are well worth a try, we think!
