VALENTINE’S DAY GUIDE: FINDING THE PERFECT SPOT

ALLEGRINE

French restaurant Allegrine is run by Danyel Couet, which offers uncomplicated and classic French food – but in a slightly more modern style. Dream away to the streets of Paris with aromas of thyme, garlic and aromatic spices. The menu includes everything from lobster and turbot to luxurious cheeses and French desserts. There is also a solid wine list with an incredibly generous selection of champagne that suits even the pickiest of connoisseurs.
If you are looking for an extra special experience, make sure you book the Chef’s Table and enjoy a specially composed menu.
TAK
📍STOCKHOLM
In the middle of Brunkebergstorg you will find one of Stockholm's most popular rooftop bars – TAK. It serves modern food with Nordic ingredients using Japanese techniques and flavors.
For Valentine’s day they have a special Valentine’s Day menu with oysters, sesame and ponzu followed by beef tataki and grilled halibut for two with browned butter, nori-roasted potatoes and chives for main course. Finnish with a lovely raspberry macaron with almond cream rose marmelade and matcha.
If the dining room is full, you can visit the Izakaya upstairs and have a seat at a community table and share some smaller dishes.
BRASSERIE BALZAC

In the middle of Vasastan in Stockholm you will find the intimate French bistro Brasserie Balzac. Here, well-cooked French classics are served on carefully selected ingredients – such as Steak Tartar, Moules Frites and whole fried red sole, beetroot, capers browned butter, mashed potatoes. At the bar you can enjoy well-composed drinks and fresh oysters. Finish the evening with a Tartelette au Citron or Creme Brulee.
Of course there is also a generous wine list where you will find mainly classic French wines from all regions, as well as a lot of Italian and American ones.
LEVANTINE

The French bistro Levantine is housed in Vasastan in Gothenburg. Here a three course set menu is served for Valentine's day starting with goat cheese toast, salad shoots, beets, pears, walnuts followed by baked cod loin, prawns, horseradish, egg, browned butter, potatoes and finishing with Crème Brûlée for dessert.Of course there is also a rich wine list with plenty of choices!
BARABICU

If you are craving something other than the typical French theme for the evening, you should check out Barabicu in Gothenburg! Here, all the food is cooked over an open fire and with all the aromas, flavors and the wonderful atmosphere, you are directly transported to the hot climate of South America.
Why not start with snacks like pomegranate & herb ezme with pita or smoked whipped cods roe, egg yolk with fire baked bread followed by ½ or whole smoked chicken and yemenite dynamite and burrata, harissa, spicy honey and hazelnut dukkah. Yum! If you have a hard time choosing, there is the full Bazaar experience where the kitchen will set the order and pace of the sharing dinner, that will be served to everyone around the table.
